Yes, girls are allowed in High School wresting in Arizona. I do not know of any girls that have been on the DMHS team, but every year there are several teams that DMHS wrestles that have a small number of girls. There is not seperate division so they have to wrestle the boys. There is a building interest in girls wrestling, driven partly by the fact that girls freestyle wrestling is now in the Olympics, along with Boys freestyle and greco. There are girl only tournaments for all ages that are not associated with High School wrestling. See the USA Wrestling website. Plus there are several private clubs that have quite a few girl wrestlers (Sunkist at ASU for example). The few girls that are successful in High School wrestling tend to be at the lighter weights, but you do see them at some of the middle weights too. If you want more you should talk to Coach Fredricks.
